National UFO Reporting Center – Board Member & Investigator

I am proud to announce that I am now a Board Member and Investigator for the National UFO Reporting Center. This is the culmination of many years of being dedicated to seriously investigating UFO Reports.
This journey actually started in 1976. I was a plainclothes Military Police Investigator at Fort Lewis (Now Joint Base Lewis-McCord). We worked 24-hour duty days and often we got little sleep and were very busy. It was a slack time and I was drinking a cup of coffee and chatting with the Desk Sergeant. The duty Investigators had an office with a cot in the back of the MP Station so we were always close by for whatever cases that came up requiring our response.
I looked down at the main desk. It had several phones sitting on a sheet of glass. Various business cards and notification lists were affixed underneath the glass. I was looking them over when one business card in particular caught my eye.
It read: “NATIONAL UFO REPORTING CENTER (206) 722-3000” I said, “Sarge, what is this? while pointing to the card. He said in a very matter of fact tone, “That’s where we report UFOs.” Then he went on to tell me about UFOs he had heard about at bases in Europe. I filed the number in my memory.
Flash forward to early 1987. A news story broke about a spectacular UFO sighting over Alaska by the pilot and crew of a cargo 747 from November 17, 1986. I was so impressed that I called the phone number for NUFORC and I said, “I don’t want to make a report. I want to know how I can help. The man who answered the phone was the creator of NUFORC, Robert Gribble, a retired Seattle firefighter. He said, “Have you ever heard of MUFON?”
That conversation led to a 30 year membership in MUFON. For the last 10 years ending in 2017, I was the Washington State Director. My best estimate is that I investigated about 2,000 UFO Reports. I also met a man who kept NUFORC alive – a truly dedicated UFO researcher and a man I am proud to call friend, Peter Davenport. We are all getting older, and he decided to create a board of directors to insure that NUFORC will continue to serve the public as a venue where they can share their UFO encounters.
